What should you know before buying an indoor bike?
Many of you ask us what you need to know in order to choose your new Clover Fitness indoor bike.
Therefore, in this post we show you which features are the most important when choosing an indoor bike model that suits what you are looking for. We list them for you:
The adjustment of the bike
Handlebars, saddle height, and saddle forward and backward movement are all adjustments that all bikes should include. These adjustments are important for correct pedalling.
Magnetic or friction resistance
If you are looking for a bike for home use and don't want to spend a lot of money, we recommend that you go for an indoor bike with a friction brake. There are also bikes with a magnetic brake, but the prices of indoor bikes with this type of brake are much higher.
Belt or chain drive
The belt drive is quieter and requires less maintenance. It increases the price of the bike compared to the cheaper chain. In favour of the latter, the pedalling feeling is more realistic but also noisier. For the home, we recommend belt drive. All Clover Fitness bikes are belt-driven.
Flywheel
The weight of the flywheel influences the pedalling. The heavier the flywheel, the smoother and more fluid the pedalling. In addition, there will also be more variation in resistance and therefore more precise workouts will be possible.
With these four points, we can already imagine which bike is best suited to what we are looking for. There are other extra features that can also have an influence, such as the monitor or if it has a pulse meter. These types of extra tools provide information about revolutions per minute, calories, pulse, time, distance, etc.
There are also indoor bikes that include a holder for tablets or smartphones, so you can monitor more data with a fitness wristband or watch videos while you train.
Generally, a mid-range bike is good for training at home and will last you a long time. You just need to maintain it from time to time.
I hope I've helped you decide, and if you have any questions about indoor cycling, just ask the guys at Clover Fitness and we'll help you get fit this summer.
